SERVICESConsultation:
Talon Trail Systems can be consulted on any aspect of your
trail system, from design to construction to routine
maintenance. Our 28 combined years of trail building
experience help address your issues; the items will be
presented in an easy-to-understand e-package that can be
shared with others in need of the information. Talon Trails
can also offer a competitive bid to affect any necessary repairs
discussed in the consultation.
Design: We can design a trail system that suits
your needs and addresses the desires of the trail users at
the same time. Taking into account positive & negative
control points and the lay of the land, Talon Trails can
produce a trail system that, if built properly, will sustain
years of designated use with minimal maintenance. Potential
users include walkers, hikers, trekkers, trail runners,
mountain bikers, and even equestrians. All three partners of
Talon Trails are avid cyclists, as well as hikers, and Susan
is an experienced horsewoman with 25 years in the saddle.
Construction: Building on the sustainable design
of the trail system, Talon Trails can construct your trails
from start to finish. We have the knowledge and experience
to build a trail using mechanized tools and by hand. Our primary
tools are the clinometer, a digital level, and an experienced eye.
We take into account lines of sight, watersheds, and natural
features among many, many other qualities when building
a trail. We can also construct bridges and boardwalks, as well as rock armoring such as boulder causeways and flagstone paving.
Education: Talon Trails offers educational
services to anyone who wants to learn about natural surface,
multi-use, singletrack trails. Ryan and Susan's
previous job was indeed to teach people how to build trail,
from land managers to trail stewards to volunteers.
Dewayne's experience as a trainer & adult educator lends
itself to easy-to-understand instructions on the multiple
steps it takes to build a sustainable trail.
Work Group Supervision: The staff of Talon Trails
has a wealth of experience supervising volunteers from those
with no experience to seasoned trail stewards. Ryan and Susan's
classroom trail building instructions were always followed by
hands-on training on the trail. Dewayne has lead numerous volunteer
groups including almost four years of work on the Goodwater Trail
at Lake Georgetown and five of the last six REI community service
projects.
Hybrid Construction: Many public projects require matching funds for grant money purposes. We can provide the professional services like construction while also supervising your work crew to match the monies through volnteer labor.
